A Surprizing OS - Sbc Dsl Linux
In the world of computers and computing terms, not everything is what you think it is. I am not the most computer literate person in the world, however, I do know a little bit about computer terms. I, like many others, have heard the term DSL. Typically, DSL is an abbreviated term for digital subscriber line. This is a newer and faster form of internet connection. Linux is, of course, a famous free operating system. When I first heard the term Sbc Dsl Linux I somewhat wondered what an abbreviated term for a high-speed internet connection and a free operating system were doing paired together. After a little research, I found that the terms used in this product description had little to do with what I had originally thought.
Sbc Dsl Linux or as it is commonly known as Damn Small Linux is not a different version of a high-speed internet connection. It is actually a free operating system specifically designed for older computers with little memory.
As many know, standard operating systems normally take up large amounts of hard drive space and memory. If any of you have ever used a Windows based operating system you know how large these programs are. Many older computers simply cannot handle that type program. There is just not enough room for these programs on older computers.
To remedy this, Sbc Dsl Linux was developed. The Sbc Dsl Linux operating systems was originally not an operating system at all. The Sbc Dsl Linux system began as an experiment to see how much information could be amassed on a 50MB disk. During this experiment it became a full on Linux distribution. After realizing that this experiment had turned into something more than it had begun, Sbc Dsl Linux began being used to run graphic based applications on older computers with slower running processors and very little memory. As a convenience, the Sbc Dsl Linux can be stored on things like a USB flash card, a zip drive, memory cards and also on rare occasions a bootable business card. A Sbc Dsl Linux is certainly not something you see all the time anymore. However, there are more and more people using older computers these days. Whether it is because people cannot afford anything else, or perhaps they simply prefer and older computer, or want to reduce the stress on the environment by recycling, whatever the case, there is an operating system for them. Happy computing.
